The operators of the ice rink and fair at Manchester's Christmas Markets have donated £6,000 to the Lord Mayor's charity.

Paul and Elaine Minney gifted the money after a successful season running the ice rink and fair attractions at Cathedral Gardens, over the festive period. The husband and wife team who run Very Nice Ice chose to donate to the We Love MCR charity to give something back to the people of Manchester.

Paul Minney, owner of Very Nice Ice, said: “We had a fantastic time in Manchester over the festive period and it was great to see so many children and families enjoying their time on the ice.

“Our teams operate at a number of locations around the country, and it’s always nice to get the opportunity to give something back to the local community so we decided to make a donation to the We Love MCR Charity - which provides help and support to the residents of Manchester who are in the greatest need.”

Charity Development Manager, Laura Baynham-Hughes said: “The We Love MCR charity is delighted that Paul and Elaine have chosen to support us again this year. Their generous donation will support community projects across the city, helping to improve the lives of Manchester residents. Every penny raised for We Love MCR stays here in Manchester. ”
