UKFast, summer school 2018

Young Mancunians took part in the first Summer School funded by the Sir Howard Bernstein Fund

Summer 2018 saw the inaugural project of the Sir Howard Bernstein Endowment Fund taking place throughout July and August. 16 year old young people leaving school were invited to take part  in the programme to develop transferable employability skills through a variety of events and experiences with employers across the city.

From a construction site visit at the MMU offices at Great Marlborough Street hosted by Kier Construction, to a public speaking workshop hosted by Talk the Talk at Lloyds Bank, to a workplace visit at the uber modern UKFast offices and a visit to the now closed ancient Town Hall, this was a summer to remember!

"I have been made aware of opportunities that defy my original expectations of jobs." Kyeesia.

"Meeting new people and opening my eyes to the different things available has been amazing." Leeland

All of the young people who took part have now successful started at college on a wide range of courses and we wish them all the best.
