3 Mountains. 23 miles hiking. 10,053 feet ascent. 462 miles driving. 24 hours. Ben Nevis. Scafell Pike. And Snowdon… The GB 3 Peaks Challenge!
Intrepid Councillors and Managers of Manchester City Council are taking on this extreme challenge on 27-28 July. The team includes Council Leader Sir Richard Leese, and is the brainchild of Councillor Carl Ollerhead.
21 brave souls are lacing their boots, donning their waterproofs and eating the Kendal Mint Cake to take on this gruelling 24-hour challenge, assisted by their 5 lovely volunteer drivers.
The strains, blisters and tired eyes will be worthwhile though. They’re encouraging everyone to sponsor the team generously. Their Fundraising Target is £10,000, which will be split evenly between We Love MCR Charity and Big Change MCR which delivers practical support to tackle Homelessness in our city. Please send them your messages of support (and include #MCCCliffhangers on social media), and sponsor them anything you can spare here:-
Some of the adventurers are shown here in the Team Hoodie – and we’ll provide photos after the event as evidence of their blood, sweat and tears…
NB – if your team would like to consider a fundraising challenge for We Love MCR Charity, please contact Ged on firstname.lastname@example.org to explore how they can help you with ideas, resources and even free entry to certain challenge events.
