Textiles firm R A Smart is exclusively using the official Manchester Worker Bee Trademark to decorate facemasks, with a donation to We Love MCR Charity for every mask sold.
Mask-wearing to keep people safe has become a part of everyday life. And with adversity comes creativity – we’ve seen all sorts of inspiring mask designs over the course of 2020.
R A Smart using their skilled printing and textile services have come up with a brilliant Manchester Bee-adorned mask design, and are donating £1 to We Love MCR with every mask sold! Click here to visit their page and buy one yourself. They’re currently the only company with permission to use the Manchester Worker Bee Trademark on facemasks, and we think they’ve made them look gorgeous. Take a look, here modelled by our Chair of Trustees the new Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Tommy Judge:

A spokesperson for R A Smart says on the partnership:
“R A Smart are proud to support the We Love Manchester Charity. We are a North West textile manufacturing firm employing staff across the North West regions. It is our aim to fund raise for this amazing charity who in return support local community groups and young people across the city. How great would it be to see Greater Manchester citizens unite and help fund raise by wearing the official Manchester bee face masks.”
We Love MCR’s strategic partner, Manchester City Council, holds the trademark for many iterations of the Manchester Worker Bee, which was first used in the architecture of Manchester Town Hall in the 1800s, and adopted by the newly created council in 1842. If you are a business or individual who is interested in using the iconic image and raising money for our work in Manchester communities at the same time, please click on this link to find out how to get approval for use of the Bee trademark.
