The latest Referral Partner for our Manchester's Rising Stars Fund is the remarkable Bedspace.
They work at the sharp end of the homelessness crisis alongside charities and local authorities. Working with young people in precarious situations, they develop secure tenancies for them and support them to succeed.
Bedspace are a national organisation that have a base in Manchester, and will now encourage their most ambitious young people to apply for a Rising Stars grant from us. We're excited to become part of the success stories of these young Mancunians who are determined to succeed!
A spokesperson from their Manchester team spoke to us about the partnership:
“From its inception 23 years ago, Bedspace’s mission has always been to transform the lives of vulnerable people. Through tailored support and accommodation, the Bedspace Team works tirelessly to provide the young people with the support and encouragement to aspire not only towards independence but beyond through the Employment, Education and Training module of the ASDAN curriculum.
Many of our young people experience barriers in getting funding for qualifications and training through no fault of their own, causing a re-evaluation of these goals. We are so proud to have joined in partnership with We Love MCR’s Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund to help provide these individuals with the tools to reach independence and encourage their ambitions.”
Bedspace are joining a strong list of Referral Partners, including charities, community groups and academic institutions, each with a proud track record of working with young Mancunians.
Our Referral Partners have helped us award £100,000 of funding to 51 incredible young people in just the last 6 months. We can’t wait to add to that number alongside Bedspace!
