We Love MCR Charity is delighted to welcome Councillor Paul Andrews as our new Chair of Trustees, following his investiture as the 126th Lord Mayor of Manchester at Full Council on Wednesday 15th May.
As per our constitution, the current Lord Mayor takes on this esteemed role for the year ahead. Cllr Andrews, who represents Baguley ward in Wythenshawe, has already set an inspiring theme for his mayoral year - 'Carers'.
This focus on recognising the invaluable contributions of adult and young carers across Manchester resonates deeply with our charity's work, having supported many young carers over the past 5 years through our Rising Stars Fund.
Cllr Andrews' wife, the new Mayoress Mrs Cathy Andrews, has had a long career in Children's Services, which no doubt influenced the carers theme. We look forward to working closely with the new Lord Mayor and Mayoress to champion Mancunian carers during this special year.
With Cllr Andrews at the helm, We Love MCR is excited to further our mission of supporting Manchester's communities and young people over the next 12 months!
Also joining the Lord Mayor on our Board of Trustees is the new Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Carmine Grimshaw, representing Miles Platting and Newton Heath.
