We Love Manchester proudly supports young Mancunians. They are our rising stars and future leaders, and some may need a helping hand along the way.
We work with young people through our key projects including Summer School, funded work experience placements, funds and platforms for young entrepreneurs, and personal mentoring opportunities. All projects help to develop key skills for future employment, education and life!
We know that money can often be a barrier to accessing opportunities. We support the young people we work with in a number of ways, ensuring that financial limits don’t get in the way of young people developing the skills and confidence to succeed.
In July 2019 we were delighted to launch the second “We Love Manchester Summer School”. The project spans 8 weeks from the end of GCSE exams to the day before GCSE results! Students are referred from high schools across the city, to enable them to make new contacts, learn about the great city of Manchester and the wealth of opportunities available to them. The focus is on students building key employability and life skills, such as communication, team-working and planning, all with the aim of helping young people to progress successfully from school into college or work.
Students are paid a bursary of £25 per week for attending 2 full days, to help cover travel and other associated costs. The project is delivered in partnership with progressive employers across Manchester, including Kier Construction, NHS, One Manchester, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Manchester City Council and WSP to name but a few.
