Manchester Youth Markets began in January 2016 and had supported over 30 young entrepreneurs to start and grow their small businesses making and selling items such as cakes, jewellery, street food, clothes and sunglasses to name a few.

Having launched in November 2017, Megan Jones of Curated Makers started the brand as a market-stall concept and started working with Manchester Youth Markets after being referred to the programme via the Princes Trust Enterprise Programme.

Curated Makers brings together and champions makers, artists and designers from across the North of the UK, via collaborative pop-ups. Curated Makers provide the high-street with a short-term, pop-up model that keeps everybody happy; the makers, the retailers, the customers and our local high-streets. Curated Makers believes that collaboration is the key to success in this turbulent retail climate and only by working closely together, can long-term changes be made to enable thriving opportunities for all businesses involved.

Through Manchester Youth Market, Megan was selected to trade at the NMTF National Final in Stratford Upon Avon in Summer 2018. Since then her business has gone from strength to strength showcasing in Debenhams on Market Street in Manchester, for 5 weeks over the Summer of 2018.

Throughout June, Curated Makers are being hosted at Bents Garden Centre , the pop-up will showcase a wide selection of handcrafted, artisan products and stories of local talent, offering a wide array of goods from artwork, gifts, homewares, jewellery, baby + children, clothing, dog accessories, candles, cards, stationery and more.

Megan says:

“I am delighted to announce that Curated Makers will be joining Paperchase for 4 weeks in the Summer, between 15th July – 11th August 2019. The pop up will incorporate the very best of Northern makers in this iconic stationery store. It is a huge privilege that Paperchase have embraced our pop-up concept and are welcoming us into their Manchester flagship store, to showcase our Northern based creatives, alongside their emporium of art goods, crafts materials, cards, stationery and more.”

In recognition of the success of the youth market initiative in Manchester and of Megan’s success with Curated Makers, the team were invited to an All Party Parliamentary Group for Markets Reception at the House of Commons on Tuesday May . The event launched a national campaign for Youth Markets.
