Our unique Manchester's Rising Stars Fund gives young Mancunians with bags of motivation and talent, but a lack of opportunities, direct support to achieve their ambitions. A recent Rising Star we supported was KA*, who is a bright, ambitious, and bubbly young woman that aspires to become a top-class fitness instructor.
However, mistakes made in the past led to her conviction and, unfortunately, imprisonment. The good news is that in 2024 she hopes to be 'Released on Temporary Licence' but for that to happen she must be working or engaged in Education.
So, with drive and determination to rehabilitate herself, KA embarked on a Business honours degree with Open University, successfully finishing her first year of degree-level study. Furthermore, KA passed her A levels in Business, Marketing and Psychology with a plan to combine both fitness and business to become a fitness instructor, travel to other countries, and share her story.
We Love MCR Charity believe in her future plans and agreed to fund a Level 2 Gym Instructor, and Level 3 Personal Trainer courses. Thanks to support and a contribution from the organisation Health and Fitness Education (https://www.hfe.co.uk), KA will be given a personalised course package, enabling her to start the theory now and complete the practical when she is released.
We look forward to seeing KA take steps (or lunges) towards accomplishing her goal!
