We Love MCR supports young beautician to achieve her goals

We funded the determined young Holly to help with the financial costs needed to set her on the path to her chosen profession.

Holly is a determined young woman who has just left school with glowing GCSE results. A dedicated student, her referee said to us that Holly was “willing to go above and beyond to ensure her own success but also to support others” which says all you need to know.

Holly came to us via Manchester College, an institution that does wonderful things for their students regularly, as we have seen in many previous Manchester’s Rising Stars grants. She has enrolled onto a full time Hair & Beauty Course at the College, which aligns with her personal ambitions of seeing a career in the field. She has full belief in this being her profession when she finishes, and we’re proud to have been able to support her journey to get there.

Holly requires particular items to begin and complete her course, especially at the level she wants to achieve. However she has no savings, and is part of a large family which means money can be tight, and has to be prioritised for other necessities. Working around her studies is not an option as she has secondary care duties for her much younger siblings, however with the determined head she has, she has been seeking weekend work which is almost impossible during the current state of lockdowns Manchester has experienced in 2020.

We’ve awarded Holly a grant of £375.35 to purchase both uniform & kit directly from the college, and we have zero doubt about the probability of her achieving her goals. Hear Holly tell us what this grant means to her:

“I just wanted to send a massive thank you to the We Love Manchester Charity for awarding me with the kit as it will help me drastically in completing my course with a distinction star which is what I am going to work hard for. It will create the difference I need to begin the start of my career and I am so thankful for it. Thank you so much.”

We love Holly, and we wish her every success on her course and what comes after – we’ll keep you updated on her journey as a Manchester Rising Star!
